PROMOTING PROSCENJE MOUNTAINS ON THE SECOND REGIONAL MOUNTAINEERING CHILDREN'S CAMP TARA 2016

At the beginning of August in Rastiste on the Tara Mountain in Serbia, in the framework of the Second Regional Mountaineering children's camp TARA 2016, the epic-fantasy children's novel "The Wonderful World of Dormouse George" by Zarko Vucinic was presented. This book in an original way approaches to our loved ones about the importance of nature, friendship and love in the era of technology and environmental degradation.

On that occasion, Zarko Vucinic explained to young mountaineers from Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina what inspired him to write this novel which describes wild animals less known and used in the child's literature, mythological creatures, plants, man with his faults and virtues and mysterious world of a forgotten place in northern Montenegro - Proscenje Mountains.At the beginning of August in Rastiste on the Tara Mountain in Serbia, in the framework of the Second Regional Mountaineering children's camp TARA 2016, the epic-fantasy children's novel "The Wonderful World of Dormouse George" by Zarko Vucinic was presented.

This book in an original way approaches to our loved ones about the importance of nature, friendship and love in the era of technology and environmental degradation. On that occasion, Zarko Vucinic explained to young mountaineers from Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina what inspired him to write this novel which describes wild animals less known and used in the child's literature, mythological creatures, plants, man with his faults and virtues and mysterious world of a forgotten place in northern Montenegro - Proscenje Mountains.


Each child was given a book and hanging down with Dormouse George and his friends from the forest was complemented by interesting nature quiz "Puhoteka". In addition, children who wrote the best message about why we should protect the nature were rewarded with the Dormouse George promotional materials.
Furthermore, Zarko Vucinic presented to camp participants the concept - Nature, Children, Imagination (NCI), which was developed by the Montenegrin NGO UROS (Association for Development of Rural Development and Forestry) in the framework of the event "The Innovative Approach in Promoting Rural Areas in the Balkans - Proscenje Mountains" supported by the Standing Working Group for Regional Rural Development (SWG) in South Eastern Europe.


"The aim of the NCI concept is children education, promotion of active socializing in nature, rural development, encouraging individuality and creativity of children, and therefore the imagination as the basis of artistic and scientific creativity. The basic NCI communication product is ecological novel for children about Dormouse George which describes authentic locations of Proscenje Mountains, the Tara Canyon and Crna Poda site located in the National Park Durmitor in Montenegro. In the future, NGO UROS will work with partners on the preparation of specific NCI tourism package that would facilitate the development of local communities“ Zarko Vucinic said.


The Second Regional Mountaineering children's camp TARA 2016 was organized by Mountaineering club “Radnicki” from Belgrade and its youth section “Klinci planinci”.
